note to delawareliberal and the anti-defamation league ...

... we, as a culture, trivialized Hitler and the Holocaust a long, long time ago.

So why not forget about burning David Anderson at the stake?

Nobody is burning David at the stake. People just asked that he get rid of that cheesy Hitler movie. He finally did. Good for him.

If your defense is look at all this other rotten stupid stuff people do, so why can't David be stupid too, that's pretty lame. The guy is an elected official.

No, the defense is that the idiots at DL have propped themselves up as some moral arbiters, all the while they have used such imagery themselves in the past. And said things like this. So they need to get the hell off their sanctimonious (and hilariously laughable) high horse.

I think the issue is portraying the President (Bush, Obama, Clinton, George Washington) as Hitler. It's as low as you go in American politics. Why do it? Why defend it?

I didn't defend it. Like it or not, however, it has become mainstream political usage over the past two decades, and almost all the outrage is selective.

Liberal criticize conservatives for doing it, but rarely if ever criticize their own, and vice versa.

The unfortunate reality is that this particular horse is long since out of the barn, and it becomes exceptionally tiresome to hear people standing on their soapboxes feigning moral outrage when--as is really clear from the DL post--they are really only trying to score their own political points.
